  7.     JOHN TURTURRO doesn't think of acting and filmmaking in
  8. competitive terms. "After all, it's not sport," he says. But
  9. he's not complaining that the competition of Cannes let him walk
  10. off with the best-actor award. The star of Barton Fink, which
  11. also won Cannes honors for best film and direction, is finally
  12. coming into his own after performing in 20 films. A favorite of
  13. director Spike Lee, who complained bitterly after being shut out
  14. of the big honors at Cannes, the busy Turturro, 34, can also be
  15. seen this summer in Lee's Jungle Fever. Next on his plate:
  16. directing his own screenplay, which took him 10 years to write.
